So I know I haven’t posted in a really long while, but I’m back today with a review on a drugstore moisturizer, Aveeno Ultra Calming Moisturizer with Spf 15.
I’ll start off by saying, that I have normal to dry skin, and I tend to break out a lot around my cheek area, I have some really dry patches, and I have redness on and round my nose, a little on my chin, and some on my cheeks. I wouldn’t say it’s severe redness or anything, but it’s definitely noticeable.
So let’s get started….
Where to buy and how much: I bought this at Walmart for around $15, a little bit pricey for drugstore, but I figured it was worth it because Aveeno has proven to be great quality in the past to me. You can also find this at Target, CVS, Walgreens, grocery stores. Prices will vary from around $14-$16. Oh, and sometimes you can even find it on sell.
Packaging and amount: This product, instore will be in a box with a clear window to show the actual bottle. The actual packaging is a light beige color, and has a beige color top. It has a pump, which is awesome, and you get 4 fl oz.
Claims: This product claims to “visibly reduce redness, soothe irritated or sensitive skin with naturally calming feverfew.” Feverfew, according to the bottle, is a natural ingredient known for it’s soothing properties. It also claims that the product is oil free, hypo-allergenic, and noncomodogenic. So basically according to what I just mentioned, it shouldn’t clog your pores or cause irritation, quite the opposite actually, and it will help reduce any redness.
Consistency and Scent: The consistency of this moisturizer seems a little thick, but smooths out easily and leaves the skin very soft and not greasy at all. It has a scent, I’d say a scent of clean, but it is pretty strong, so if you don’t like scents, you might not like that aspect of this moisturizer, but it really doesn’t bother me, I actually enjoy the smell of clean that it has. 🙂
Quick comparison to Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer:
Aveeno: $14-$16, SPF 15, 4fl. oz., comes with pump, has a fragrance, sold at your nearest drugstore
Clinique: $22-$24, No SPF, 4 fl oz., comes with pump only if you pay the $2 extra dollars, fragrance free, sold at your nearest mall or clinique counter.
Onto the review: I bought this a week before new years, it is now Febrauary 5th. So I’ve been using it about a month and a half. I use about a pump every morning, and I apply about a half a pump to my dry patches every night, so they can heal overnight. I still have more than 3/4 of the bottle left. It is amazingly hydrating without being greasy, and it soaks into my skin like a dream. My foundation goes on beautifully after I let it soak in for a couple minutes. My dry patches are definitely not a worry anymore. I still have some redness, but I’d say it has reduced it a little bit. It hasn’t caused my skin to break out at all, I get my normal breakout here and there during that wonderful time of the month lol, but it’s not the moisturizer’s fault. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it. I will repurchase it again, and I don’t think I’ll ever repurchase Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizer ever again, this is so much better in my opinion. It has the spf, it comes with a pump, you can find it nearby at a drugstore, it is a little pricey, but trust me it’s worth it, in my experience, and hey if you’re skeptical, buy it , keep your receipt and the packaging, try it out for a couple days, and if you don’t like it, return it. Most drugstores will allow you to return it. But I doubt that you will want to. So that is all I really have to say about this product. Aveeno Ultra Calming Moisturizer is definitely comparable to Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer, except that Aveeno is better. If you decide to try it out, good luck and I hope you love it as much as me. 🙂
